Sitara Thobani

Postcolonial, critical race and feminist studies; South Asia and the South Asian diaspora; art and cultural production; and constructions of national identity in transnational contexts.

Sitara Thobani received her DPhil in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the University of Oxford. She has taught courses in Anthropology, and Gender and Sexuality Studies at Oxford, Simon Fraser University and the University of British Columbia.

Her book, Indian Classical Dance and the Making of Postcolonial National Identities: Dancing on Empire’s Stage, will be published in 2017 (Routledge).
