Most of us are familiar with the Halloween witch as a figure of fantasy. But witches and witchcraft beliefs play a vital role in many cultures today. This talk will cover the facts about witchcraft today, from Pagan witches to ongoing witch persecutions and panics.

OUR GUEST: Sabina Magliocco, Ph.D. is a retired Professor of Anthropology at UBC, as well as Professor Emeritus at California State University – Northridge. A recipient of Guggenheim, National Endowment for the Humanities, SSHRC, Fulbright and Hewlett fellowships, and an honorary Fellow of the American Folklore Society, she has published on religion, folklore, foodways, festival and witchcraft in Europe and North America, and is a leading authority on the modern Pagan Movement
