About
My research examines Chone people’s language practice and language ideology in relation to their identity formation and social imaginary. I focus in particular on how the operation and interaction of different ideologies of linguistic purity, namely standard Chinese and pure Tibetan, play out on the ground among Chone peoples whose use of language is characterized by linguistic mixture and fluidity.
