Isabel Telleria is a Latina who grew up in the Midwestern United States and along the East Coast of Canada. She received a B.A. in Anthropology from McGill University in 2023 and is currently an M.A. student in Sociocultural Anthropology at the University of British Columbia. She is additionally affiliated with UBC’s Centre for Migration Studies as an incoming member of the Graduate Certificate in Migration Studies’ 2025-2026 cohort. Isabel’s research interests revolve around Latinx studies, migration, identity, liminality, and social media work. Her current project aims to investigate how so-called “No Sabo Kids” – children of the Latinx Diaspora in the United States who do not speak Spanish “properly” – create senses of self within and outside of virtual worlds like TikTok.
