Gain a broad knowledge of anthropological theory and research in our Master of Arts (MA) program and tailor your study towards your specific interests in our Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program at UBC Anthropology in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Accepting approximately 10 to 14 new students each year, our students are supported by a dedicated staff and faculty and access to outstanding research resources, such as the Museum of Anthropology and Laboratory of Archaeology. Today, UBC Anthropology faculty and students conduct original research throughout British Columbia, Canada and around the world.

The MA and PhD programs are administered by the Anthropology Graduate Studies Committee (AGSC) made up of the Graduate Advisor, at least two, and sometimes three, additional faculty members. The AGSC is assisted by the Graduate Program Coordinator. The AGSC is responsible for admissions, awards, and the oversight of students’ progress. Students are also subject to the regulations set out by UBC Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
