About
Oki, my name is Cecilia Raweater. Through my maternal lineage, I am Sto:lo from the Skwah Nation and Blackfoot from Siksika Nation. I was raised predominantly in my Blackfoot ways of knowing, on my traditional territory in southern Alberta. Paternally, I am El Salvadorian. I am a recent graduate with a BA in First Nations and Indigenous Studies (November 2024) from the Institute for Critical Indigenous Studies at UBC, where I was fortunate to learn under the mentorship of prominent Indigenous professors. My studies allowed me to examine political landscapes, engage in reciprocal methodological research, and strengthen my critical thinking skills to meet the dynamic needs of today. I am eager to deepen my understanding of how Native epistemologies and ways of knowing are applied in the present through the Master of Arts program in Anthropology at UBC.
