Dr. Yafei Jiang is is an Lecturer at the college of Archaeology at Shandong University, China.
His current research mainly focuses on the jade articles of China’s Shang and Zhou dynasties, with particular attention paid to aspects such as the production, use, circulation, and functions of these jade articles. At the same time, he is also engaged in research on field archaeology and pre-Qin documents (related to jade articles).
During his visit, Dr. Yafei Jiang plans to engage in a comparative study of the jade in the early civilizations of China and Central America.
Both the early civilizations of China and Central America have splendid and magnificent jade cultures. I plan to conduct a comparative study of the two in terms of the materials, craftsmanship, shapes, decorative patterns, and social functions of their jade articles, so as to have a better understanding of the roles and status that jade articles played in the development of these two civilizations.
