Nicola Levell has won the American Anthropological Association’s Council of Museum Anthropology’s 2021 Michael Ames Prize for Innovative Museum Anthropology for her project Shadows, Strings & Other Things (the physical and the digital exhibitions) and her edited volume Bodies of Enchantment: Puppets of Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas (2021). This multi-modal project also won the Canadian Museum Association’s 2020 award for outstanding exhibition of cultural heritage.
